Vancouver, British Columbia - Artha Resources Corporation (TSX.V: AHC) is pleased to announce that the Company has had a very successful start to the inaugural drilling program on its Ivan Alberto Prospect in Jujuy Province, NW Argentina. The program will consist of an initial 10 diamond holes for a total depth of approximately 2,500m. Additional holes may be drilled based on the initial results. The first diamond drill hole, DDH IA-08, has been completed to a total depth of 250m as designed. The hole intersected seven mineralized vein structures including a three metre wide intersection on the Ivana Vein and a five metre wide intersection on the Mercedes Vein. The second hole is currently underway. The Company is very pleased with the start of the program and expects an exciting next few months as the program continues on this promising project.

Key points from DDH-IA-08;

  • Hole intersected seven individual mineralized intervals over the 250m length ranging from 0.35 to 5m in width, with sphalerite, galena, chalcopyrite and pyrite the dominant sulphides.
  • The two main target veins (Ivana and Mercedes) were intersected as planned demonstrating good vertical continuity of these veins from surface.
  • A broad zone of disseminated pyrite was observed from 55 to 118m downhole in a shale, between two mineralized veins.
  • The Ivana Vein was intersected at 118-121m downhole where sulphide mineralization was observed within a quartz vein with local carbonate veinlets. Sulphides observed were sphalerite, galena and pyrite.
  • The Mercedes Vein was intersected from 202.5 to 207.5m with chalcopyrite, sphalerite, galena and pyrite observed with a combined estimated concentration of 4%.
  • Samples have been dispatched to ALSChemex in Mendoza for assay.

The final report on all work completed to date on the Ivan Alberto project has just been received from Artha's consultants and has been summarised below.

The Ivan Alberto project is located in the southern part of the Sierra de Quichagua, Juyjuy Province (Northern Argentina, Map 1). The geology of the area consists of thin-beds of pelitic sediments locally interbedded with 2m-10m thick quartz sandstone beds belonging to the Cochinoca-Escaya Magmatic-Sedimentary Complex of Ordovician age. These sediments have been unconformably covered by Tertiary andesites to the northern and northeastern part of the area. Fresh dacite intrusive porphyries have been mapped to the south, where they occur aligned on a NE-SW fracture system.

The structural pattern shows a well-defined NE-SW trend characterized by reverse faults and folding. Intense fracturing and laminated veins parallel to the NE-SW local bedding have been defined in the southeastern flank of the Sierra de Quichagua, where it forms a broad sheeted zone (4km length x 1km width) originated by compressive stress.

Geological mapping has identified a well defined epithermal vein system striking N40-65E and at least 3.5km length, where ten main mineralized structures and accessory sheeted veins occur: Eva, Morocha, Ivana, Mercedes, Colorada, Liliana, Mariana, Irene, Linda y Morena. The veins parallel the bedding and dip 45-85SE; vein thickness ranges between 0.15-5.0m

The mineralization consists of base metal sulphides: sphalerite, galena, chalcopyrite and arsenopyrite, and usually occurs disseminated in quartz veins and forming banded textures. Gold occurs in native submicroscopic particles. Gangue minerals include pyrite, pyrrhotite, quartz (milky, hyaline and drussy types), barite and calcite. Abundant disseminate iron oxides: hematite, goethite, jarosite, and manganese oxides also occur, filling boxworks, fractures and vugs.

The alteration assemblage is characterized by weak sericite, kaolinite, clays, silica and pyrite and forms a 1m to 4m thick halo in the wallrock of the veins. Finally, a weak supergene argillization is very common in the mineralized area.

A total of 856 rock samples have taken from the Ivan Alberto epithermal system and have been assayed for Au+48 elements at the ALS lab in Mendoza. The geochemical signature of the veins is Cu-Zn-Pb
